9) I'm around in January. Email me with any questions about the SAT/college. Hang out with my friend and I in Saigon :)

4) The WR section of the SAT only tests about ~25 rules of grammar. A general rule of thumb for scoring on this section: If your essay score is 8/12, then your WR section score is your multiple choice score (which is easy to study for). If your essay score is below 8, then your WR section score is lower than your MC score and vice versa. Therefore, if you get ALL of the MC questions correctly (which is easy since they test a finite list of grammar errors), you essentially don't have to worry about the essay! Vice versa, if you're a fast writer who can string together great arguments, you have a good chance of doing well.
5) Math: I'm assuming everyone here will be able to deal with SAT math. It's equivalent to maybe a sixth grade exam in Vietnam...
6) FIVE DAYS BEFORE THE TEST: By now, you should have worked on most of your weaknesses WITHOUT timing yourself and working only on your weaknesses. Now is the time to work on your weakest section (WR/CR/M). Let's just say it's CR. Time yourself and do a couple of 25-min CR sections (ignore Math/WR for now). If you go over time, finish the section anyway, but note that to yourself. Check your speed and then whether or not your answers are correct. Again, fix all misconceptions/misunderstanding. Rinse and repeat with the other 2 section (WR & M). If you do this a couple of time and already mastered the skills for each section, you'll see your speed increase to the point that you can complete each section during the time limit.
7) TWO DAYS BEFORE THE TEST: Take 2 mock SATs, fully timed, etc. Practice your timing for the entire exam. Endurance is very important.
8) ONE DAY BEFORE THE TEST: Hang out with friends. Sleep. Relax. Watch Doctor Who or some TV show you like. You've worked hard, and it's best to get some rest so that you can perform on the day of the exam. Best of luck!

All questions came from old SATs, unlike Princeton Review or Kaplan or Barron's books, which have fascimile questions that will just confuse your intuition on the test.

WHEN TAKING YOUR MOCK EXAM, treat it like a real exam. Time each section, ask your parents to be your proctor, use a #2 pencil to fill in the answer key, stop working on each section and move on once time is up (even if you didn't finish). If you need to skip or guess, do it.

AFTER YOUR MOCK EXAM, score each section, circle all the questions you got wrong or skipped AND all the questions you got right but weren't sure why you got right. Tabulate your total score, but pay close attention to where the errors are. This is where a tutor/teacher would be helpful (Yola teachers are great, I've heard), since they can help you identify which aspects of a section (Error ID, vocab, etc.) you need to work on.

2) STOP taking mock exams. You only need to take it ONCE to identify your strengths and weaknesses. NOW, you need to spend all the time you can on solidifying each conceptual subfield. For example, if you always miss paragraph interpretation questions, do not work on the entirety of Critical reading. Instead, focus on all of the paragraph interpretation. Give yourself time to SLOWLY read through all of the passages, practice only those questions, and check the answers. For each question you missed, ask yourself why. What did the test look for? How did they arrive to that answer? During this process, give yourself all the time in the world to figure out the deep patterns.
** IMPORTANT ** ALL PREPARATION SHOULD BE DONE USING THE BLUE BOOK/COLLEGE BOARD QUESTIONS.

Follow through with all of your weak areas. For vocabulary, don't try to memorize words out of context but instead look for them in news articles and see them in use. Talk to native speakers.

3) Beyond the SAT, the best way to prepare is to immerse yourself in American culture/news/movies. Read US news (New York Times, longreads) or BBC news in English. While reading, consciously try to think about 1) what is the writer's argument, 2) what is the logical structure of this argument, and 3) what are the rhetorical strategies the writer is employing to support his/her argument. This will prepare you for CR, WR, and for life in college.
